Day 1: Welcome to Savannah! Plan to arrive between 8am - 12pm to check in at our riverfront hotel! Hyatt Regency Savannah

After we get settled, we’re headed to St. Helena Island, SC to enjoy a Lowcountry Seafood Boil with all the fixin’s! Then we’ll start our first Gullah Geechee tour with 5th generation Gullah descendants. Some of the highlights include Penn Center, Brick Baptist Church, and Fripp Plantation!

After our tour we’re headed back to Savannah for dinner and then the rest of the night is yours! Go out on river street to rooftop bars/lounges, have a drink downtown while enjoying live jazz music, or explore the beauty of the city!

Day 2: Today we’re headed on our next tour to Sapelo Island, GA. Our tour will be led by a direct descendant of enslaved people brought to Sapelo in the early 1800s. We’ll take a ferry ride to the island and visit the Hog Hammock community, learn about the African traditions that have survived today on Sapelo, take a trip to the beach, and more!

After our tour we’re headed back to Savannah to take a break and relax before we get ready for dinner!

Dinner tonight will be at two time James Beard award winner, Mashama Bailey’s restaurant, The Grey! She and her restaurant are featured in Chef’s Table on Netflix and other than it’s food, the restaurant is famous for being an old segregated Greyhound bus station now run by Bailey the owner, head chef, and yes, a Black woman! Day 3: We made it to the last day but the fun is not over yet! After breakfast, we’ll take part in our service project where we get a chance to give back to the community.

Next, we’re having lunch at Shabazz Seafood from Netflix’s Fresh, Fried, and Crispy known for the best fish in Savannah!

Finally, we’ll make our way to the airport with unforgettable memories of the amazing Gullah Geechee culture and HBCU connections to last a lifetime! The trip may be over but you’ll return relaxed and rejuvenated with a new HBCU family!
